Intellectual Property Forensic Intelligence System (I-TRACK™)
Brand piracy and other intellectual property infringements are said to cost businesses over $600 billion per year. These activities include:
- product diversion;
- switch-selling to lower-cost non-branded product imitations; and
- outright product counterfeiting.
Targets include category leaders in a wide range of industries, among them:
- recorded entertainment - DVDs, CDs
- software
- luxury goods - clothing, handbags, shoes
- consumer products
- pharmaceuticals - branded and generic
- information technology hardware - chips, toner cartridges
To respond to this urgent and growing problem, TKA designed, built, and operated I-TRACK™, a system to monitor brand and trademark activity on the Internet. I-TRACK produces a range of statistical reports on suspected brand piracy, and has enabled our clients to more quickly identify and stop these activities using internal security and law enforcement.
Product Risk Intelligence
The initial development of the I-TRACK system was funded by TKA clients in the pharmaceuticals and consumer packaged goods industries. Development and refinement of the approach continues. We've now designed a more comprehensive, real-time solution, the Integrated Product Risk Intelligence System™, to continually monitor all high-value brands within a multi-brand enterprise. An overview of this approach is shown below.
Case Example 1
For a global consumer packaged goods company, TKA designed the original I-TRACK installation, and operated it for several years. Following that, TKA provided technical support when the function was transferred in-house to a 15-person team.
Case Example 2
TKA designed and operated I-TRACK installations for six drugs made by a leading pharmaceuticals manufacturer. This enabled their internal security people to be deployed more effectively, and helped them cut down dramatically on the amount of product being moved through illicit channels.
